We're back!

It's been quiet around FreestyleMusic.de for a long time – but the wait is finally over: we're back. And honestly? We couldn't be prouder.

For many of us, Freestyle has never been "just" music. It's nights spent dancing, beloved CDs on the shelf, the thrill of the next compilation dropping, and a community that sticks together. We miss that feeling – and that's exactly what we're bringing back.

The new FreestyleMusic.de isn't a simple facelift of the old site. We rebuilt it completely from the ground up – with attention to detail, a whole lot of heart, and one goal: to finally give the scene a home on the web again.

What awaits you on the new site

There's already plenty to explore – here's the tour.

The music

• The big CD database. The heart of it all: albums and compilations with covers, artists, full tracklists, labels and release years. Browse from A to Z, search for a title or an artist, and find the records that were the soundtrack of your life.
• Artist pages. Every artist now has their own page: origin, pictures, biography, links to the official channels – plus the full discography and every compilation they appear on. The artist directory shows them all at a glance.
• Compilation series. "Which volume am I still missing?" – the scene's big series are neatly bundled, every installment in the right order.
• Listen right away – thanks to Spotify. For many albums you can start listening instantly. One click and the sound of back then is playing again.
• Lyrics. Sing along with confidence: you'll find the lyrics for lots of tracks – and you can search across all of them for that one line stuck in your head.
• Video gallery. Music videos and clips gathered in one place.
• Radio. Lean back and let it play – Freestyle around the clock, right on the homepage.

Memories

• Photo gallery. Memories in pictures – from events, parties and more. And tag yourself in the photos you appear in.
• Insta Wall. The best Instagram posts from the scene, hand-picked by us and collected on one wall – sortable by hashtag so you can click your way through your favorite topic.
• The old forum. It lives on as a searchable archive: thousands of posts from the scene's history to browse, quick to find thanks to full-text search. (New posts are no longer possible there – today the chatting happens in the Chatterbox and on Discord.)

Your place in the scene

• Your own profile page. In the spirit of the good old community days: design your personal page with interests, favorite CDs, a profile song, a guestbook and pictures. Show off your whole CD collection, embed your favorite Instagram post and gather the photos you're tagged in – you decide what the scene gets to see.
• Your own look. Eight designs are ready for your profile page – from Neon Nights to Vinyl, Underground and Bubblegum. And two of them you have to earn: the Silver and Gold Editions unlock once you've collected enough achievements.
• Friends & private messages. Connect with the scene, add friends and send each other private messages – just like back in the day.
• Member directory. See who's back on board.

Join in

• The Freestyle Charts. Vote for your favorite CDs every month and build the community charts together. At the end of the month the results are tallied – and archived for good.
• Polls. Best compilation of all time? Vinyl or CD? Have your say – and see straight away how the scene is voting. Every finished poll stays readable in the archive.
• Earn achievements. Your activity earns you badges – from Collector to Chronicler to Veteran, each in bronze, silver and gold. Show what you're made of.
• Comments and the Chatterbox. Have your say on albums, videos and photos – or drop a hello in the good old Chatterbox.
• Our Discord server. Chat, share music and stay in touch – in German and English. You'll find the link in the footer and on the homepage. Come say hi!
• Suggest CDs and videos. Missing a record or a clip? Suggest it – we'll take a look and add it. Together we'll make the database complete.
• Contact & bug reports. Questions, feedback or spotted a bug? Reach us directly through the contact form – the "Report a bug" link in the footer even brings the page you were on along with it. We're here for you.

Good to know

• Stay in the loop. Notifications let you know when someone interacts with you – a friend request, a message, a guestbook entry, props and more. If you like, as a push straight to your phone, even when the site is closed. It's your call – one click in your profile is all it takes.
• News. News, updates and stories from the scene – right here in this section.
• Install it as an app. FreestyleMusic.de can be added to your phone or desktop like an app – one tap on the icon and you're right in.
• Just the way you like it. Switch between German and English, in a light or dark design.

Had an account back in the day?

Then it's still there – we carried the old member accounts over. Here's how to get back in:

• Still have access to your old email address? Then just use the forgot-password function and set yourself a new password. It works right away.
• That address is long gone? No problem, we planned for that: send us a account recovery request. Tell us briefly who you were – we'll check it by hand and get back to you at your new address.
• Never been here before? All the better. Sign up here, it takes a minute.

Retro at heart, modern under the hood

One thing matters to us above all: the site should feel like it used to – that unmistakable retro charm, the nostalgia of the Freestyle era, a little bit of a "time journey". Call it a retro revival: that good old feeling, lovingly brought into the present.

At the same time, what's under the hood is anything but dusty. We rely on modern, up-to-date technology so the site is fast, secure and looks just as good on your phone as on a big screen. And we built in services like Spotify from day one – so nostalgia and the modern age go hand in hand.

In short: the best of both worlds. The heart beats retro, the technology is right up to date.

And this is just the beginning – we've got a lot more planned. Here's a look at what we're working on:

• Follow hashtags. Subscribe to your favorite hashtags on the Insta Wall and never miss a new post.
• Link Discord to your account. So everyone on the server can see who's a member here too.
• And above all: more content. Every week brings new CDs, covers, lyrics and photos – the database keeps growing.
