Rumorz

Best known for his work with Exposé, Lewis Martinee is a dance-music icon whose sleek production style can make a CD sound great even if the artist isn't remarkable. No one's going to accuse Rumorz of being in a class with Martha & the Vandellas; for that matter, the all-female vocal group is hardly as exciting or as interesting as En Vogue. But thanks to the input of producer/songwriter Matinee, Satisfaction Guaranteed is stronger than it would have been without him.

Although glossy dance-floor items like "Rhythm Street," "Tell Me It's a Lie" and "Three Times You're Out" aren't fantastic, they're catchy and infectious. Rumorz never establishes a real identity or a recognizable sound, but then, the group itself isn't the thing that makes this album decent -- it's the attractive nature of Martinee's producing.
