Nayobe

Born in Brooklyn, New York, Nayobe Catalina Gomez first started singing in the Glee Club in sixth grade. She sang at class parties and talent shows. Nayobe would win talent contests singing on top of instrumental versions of songs originally done by Barbara Streisand and Debbie Boone. By the age of 13, Nayobe was singing Off-Broadway and was an understudy for Lena Horne in the "The Wiz" in which she received three standing ovations from the crowd. She later went on to win the Apollo Theater's Amateur Night Contest and topped out a Disco Fever Talent Contest which led to a contract with SAL ABBATIELLO's FEVER RECORDS. In 1985, Nayobe debuted with her hit single "PLEASE DON'T GO" which hit #5 on Billboard's Dance Chart and also became the #1 club record in New York.

In 1987, Nayobe released her self-titled debut album which generated three Top Ten Dance hits, including "PLEASE DON'T GO", "SECOND CHANCE FOR LOVE", and "GOOD THINGS COME TO THOSE WHO WAIT".In 1990, Nayobe moved to WTG/EPIC RECORDS and released "IT'S TOO LATE", a single which appeared on the soundtrack for the movie "Twins" which starred Arnold Schwarzeneggar and Danny DeVito. She also went on to release her second album entitled "PROMISE ME" under the production of TEDDY RILEY & THE SYSTEM. Following the success of the album in 1992, Nayobe took some time off from the music scene to start a family. After two years of spending time and enjoying her life with her daughter, Nayobe is now back in the scene with FEVER RECORDS.
