Angelina

Born Long before mainstream America started “Living la vida loca” with the rise of Latin pop Upstairs Records recording artists Angelina was already burning up the dance floors with Bilingual dance tracks. As a leader in the evolution of dance music, her debut album elevated bilingual dance music into an unprecedented level. After “release me” skyrocketed to number 7 on Billboard’s Monitor, Angelina’s first album had an arsenal of hit singles which included “I don’t need you love” , “without your love” and “tide is high”. With continued precense in the music industries leading charts, including bilboard’s Hot 100, Angelina was established as a proven artists in the music Industry Her songs dominated dance floors everywhere and many where so entranced by her sound that they began to refer to her as the “Latin Queen of Dance.”

Coming from a humble family in Union City, CA, she is fiercely proud of her Latino heritage. Growing up with three brothers and one sister, singing became Angelina’s way of shining. Her love for learning and academics led her to become the first person from both of her parent’s families to attend collage. In order to afford the expanses of Santa Clara University she spent her summers working at NUMMI, a car assembly plant, where she preformed such tasks as installing car batteries and welding gas tanks. It was during her sophomore year, when money was becoming scarce and she was considering taking time off from her Psychology/Biology double major that she attended and open audition held by Upstairs Records. Within two weeks of being chosen she signed a record deal, recorded her smash hit “Release Me”, and heard it on two of California’s largest radio stations, KYLD and KMEI. Leaving school and consecrating on music would definitely have been an easier alternative, and would have gained her a wider popularity, but she was determined to graduate from collage. Even with the sleepless study nights, Angelina always find times to reach out to others, volunteering at high school and speaking at motivational events (she was Recruitment and Outreach Chair of M.E.CH.A.) beating the odds, she wanted to prove that with perseverance, a person with her modest background could achieve despite many people’s doubt. As a graduate of the class of 1998, Angelina’s driving motivation is to be a positive role model, and she uses her passion for singing as a platform with witch to inspire.

As an energetic and talented performer, Angelina became an international dance sensation and relishes the challenge of living up to that standard with her sophomore album, “Ven A Mi (come to me).” Filled with up-tempo dance tracks as well as beautiful ballads, this album is sure to continue to lift Angelina to new heights. Her firs single of the “Ven A Mi” album, “Bailando,” earned her a Latin Billboard Nomination, a category she shared with Enriqeu Iglesias and Gloria Estefan. Her current single, “Every time I think of you,” Featuring A.B. Quintanilla and the Kumbia kings, is her first ballad release. Angelina is currently filming a video that is sure to satisfy all who have been waiting to see Angelina on MTV.
