Angela Martinez

With the debut of her hit single, "MY HEART IS HERE" back in June 6th of 1998, this young diva could perhaps be the recent youngest new artist to enter the Freestyle Dance Category so far. Angela was only 14 years old when she co-wrote "MY HEART IS HERE" with (California) Bay Area's well known dance producer/writer, Slammin' Sam Maxion. She turned 15 about a month and a half after the release of her single. Since then, it's been a busy and dream-fulfilled year for Angela. Angela has started her own publishing company and helped establilsh her own indie-label, Get Shorty Records. She has also received full membership in ASCAP as writer and publisher.

Angela first appeared on stage at age 5. Over the years, she has performed in many church musical productions and school talent shows. Prior to the release of her hit single, she was invited by HBO to sing at the private screening in San Francisco of the HBO documentary, "4 Little Girls" which was nominated for an academy award. Word has it that Angela was chosen to perform by HBO because she sings from "from the heart." Angela has also had the opporunity of singing in front of an audience of over 3,000 people a the Nothern California Wrestling Championship tournament where she sang the national anthem. Angela even has some TV experience where she was a member of the Star Gazer Reporters which interviews kids doing news worthy activities. She has also sang on many local cable television productions.

Angela has received much warm and loving support from many people locally and across the U.S. and Canada, and also as far off as Japan and from France. Her hit single, "MY HEART IS HERE" has been featured in the Top 10 lists of many record pools where it oftend reached #1 status - topping well known dance artists such as 'N SYNC, Montel Jordan and even Mariah Carey. The single was also chosen by PETER COLON of Dance Music Authority (DMA) Magazine (November 1998 issue) as his "West Coast Freestyle Pick" on the 12" Reviews - giving it a rating of 3 1/2 stars (4 stars being the best).
